street art for home decoration Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent. J-M Basquiat was one of the most influential American artists and focused on “suggestive dichotomies” :
  • integration versus segregation
  • wealth versus poverty
  • inner versus outer experience.
He is considered to be the founder of the neo-expressionism movement. Those familiar with Jean-Michel Basquiat shouldn't be surprised that the gone-too-soon graffiti-cum-Neo-expressionist used boxers as a recurring theme. Born in Brooklyn to Haitian and Puerto Rican parents, Basquiat grew up on the hardscrabble streets of New York City where he confronted racism and learned firsthand the realities of the socio-economic struggle of the working class. Basquiat was quite naturally drawn to the dogged spirit of the boxer, a determined individual who took his knocks but kept on fighting. The artist himself wasn't averse to putting on the gloves, having once challenged fellow painter Julian Schnabel to a sparring match (it never manifested). Here is a brief survey of Basquiat's boxing paintings, much of which was informed by the artist's admiration for particular boxing heroes, especially Joe Louis and the defiant Muhammad Ali. basquiat boxe self portrait

Conditions of return

Buyers are responsible for return postage costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

  • High quality and care applied to all our products.

  • Some of our products come unframed for logistics reasons, others have the frame option. Please ask us for more infos.

  • There are 5 cm from each side of the picture, so it’s easier to stretch the product into a frame without loosing any image.

  • For our prints we only use materials such as: inks, and canvases that respect the regulations for the protection of the environment.

  • In addition to the listed dimensions, it is possible to customize orders with different sizes and different images.

  • All products are shipped in already wrapped PVC tube and paper to keep the product intact.

  • We offer different types of shipping methods, please feel free to send us a message if you want to know more about it.

  • As the lighting effects that have been used, colors of the objects may be a little different from pictures you see.
